About Hannah

- What kind of experience do you have?

I have experience of teaching all ages. I have worked with the LSO discovery department, enabling young musicians around London to participate in concerts aongside the LSO. I have done workshops at primary schools and in elderly peoples homes. I assisted in teaching from year 3 in classes of 30 and groups of 3 in primary school in Hackney. I have done some sectional and individual tuition in secondary school. I have worked in a Music School for disabled children (ages 5-18). I am a founding member, trustee and treasurer for registered Charity the Wind-Up Penguin Theatre Company. This is a charity committed to taking professional standard art to children and young people who do not have regular access to the arts. With the Penguing I have been on 2 projects to Romania and one to Bulgaria. On these projects I have led worskhops with children and young people to encourage creativity and enjoyment through the arts. I also work for City Music Lessons, a music service in London which offers music tuiton to workers in Canary Wharf, Fleet Street and around London.

I am very open, enthusiastic teacher, always wanting to get the best out of my pupils. Music should always be enjoyed no matter whether you are studying for exams or just for fun! I tailor my lessons to whatever the students needs are.

- Which subject(s) do you teach?

I teach oboe and music theory from beginner to advanced and piano from beginner up to grade 7.
Music theory is essential when learning to play any instrument and I would always give some of a lesson over to teaching theory unless student, was having a separate theory lesson.

- Tell me about your qualifications.

I am currently in my third year at the Guildhall school of Music and Drama studying oboe on the BMus (hons) course.
I have Grade 8 Oboe with distinction (ABRSM), Grade 5 Music theory (ABRSM) and grade 8 piano with Merit (LCM).
I have 14 GCSE's including 5 A*'s, 6 A's a B and 2 C's. I also have 3 A levels in Maths, Music and Drama (ABB) and an AS level in Music technology (A)

- How much do you charge?

I charge £30/hour or £15/half hour. I do offer consultation lessons at a reduced price of £12/half hour.

- Where do you teach?

I am happy to teach at home though also just as happy to travel to students homes.
If travelling to students home would preferably like to be in zones 1-3 although this is negotiable especially if teaching several pupils in a row.

- When are you available?

I am very flexible and can teach in the day/evenings or weekend, again negotiable. for children I would like to stick to term as much as possible though in special circumstances (e.g. exam coming up!) am happy to teach through the holidays.

- Which ages and levels do you teach?

I teach from beginner to advanced, though piano up to grade 7. I teach all ages from 5 to 90!

- Which qualifications do you prepare your students for?

I would discuss what is best for the student, I am happy to teach the main exams boards (ABRSM, Trinity Guildhall, LCM) depending on the students needs.

- Do you have a personal message for students?

I look forward to hearing/meeting you!
