About Philip
- What kind of experience do you have?
I am a successful freelance session player in London. Having performed and taught the horn and other brass instruments for 25 years. I have taught beginners aged 7yrs up to music students preparing for examinations & music college.
Several of my ex-pupils are now playing professionally and have never had a student fail an exam or entrance exam.
That said I am just as adapt not teaching to any guidelines apart from a love of music and the intrument without the need to follow an exam program.
I will design my lessons to your needs and interests while retaining a relaxed, enjoyable atmosphere.
- Do you have an up-to-date DBS (Disclosure & Barring Service, formerly CRB) Certificate?
I have held CRB certificate's from 07-09 while working for music service's but do not hold one at present.
I encourage parents to take part in my lesson's. I find it useful on many levels including, being able to support their child to study during the week & in developing a safe and trusting relationship with both pupil and parent.
- Where and with whom did you train?
My teachers were all top London orchestra players including
Ifor James (Soloist & principal horn English Chamber Orchestra),
Derek Taylor (principal horn BBC Symphony Orchestra),
Julian Baker (principal horn Covent Garden Opera House),
Nick Busch (principal horn London Philharmonic)
Tim Brown principal horn Academy of St Martins & BBC Symphony Orchestra).
