About Emma
- What kind of experience do you have?
I have been teaching piano (to Grade 8) and singing (to Diploma Level) for 10 years. As well as my private tuition I was a Lecturer in Performing Arts (Music and Singing) at Crosskeys Campus, Coleg Gwent (Sixth Form College) where I accompanied and taught classical singing, Musical Theatre and directed numerous successful shows. I am currently the singing and GCSE music teacher at Young Dancers Academy, Shepherd's Bush and the West London School of Dance. A number of my students are singing lead roles in the West End. In September I will also be taking up the post of singing teacher at L'Ecole Bilingue Elementary.

Yes I have a CRB Certificate as I currently work at a number of schools.

- Tell me about some of your current students.
One of my singing pupils is currently playing the part of Bruce Bogtrotter in Matilda on the West End. Another has just gained a place at York University to study music in September.

I am very experienced with a friendly, enthusiastic and professional approach to teaching. I am flexible in terms of teaching / learning styles and very supportive of students' musical development. I do encourage lots of individual practice.

I teach piano, Classical Singing and Musical Theatre, Music Theory and GCSE Music
- Tell me about your qualifications.
In 2006 I graduated from Cardiff University with a BMus (Hons) degree and followed this with a Postgraduate Certificate in Education. Last year I completed my Posgraduate Diploma in voice at Trinity Laban Conservatoire and have been studying on the Associated Studios Opera Course since October.
- How much do you charge?
For individual lessons in piano and Music Theory I charge £30 ph
For singing and GCSE Music I charge £50 ph
- Where do you teach?
I teach from my home in Charlton, Greenwich.
- When are you available?
I prefer to teach on weekends but would be willing to discuss the possibility of evenings.
- Which ages and levels do you teach?
Piano - to Grade 8, all ages
Singing - to Diploma, all ages
Music Theory - to Grade 5, all ages
GCSE Music - all ages
- Which qualifications do you prepare your students for?
I teach the ABRSM exam syllabus and encourage students to sit exams but do not put any pressure on them to do so; I am happy to work with them as they develop their skills at their own pace, according to their own ability and simply for enjoyment if they so wish.
