About Muqiao
- What kind of experience do you have?
Private tutoring of piano, aural, theory and musicianship students on an intermittent basis since 2010.
Private tutoring of long-term piano students since 2013.
Secondary school music teacher in Singapore:
1. Teacher of O Level and A Level music students at Dunman High School for a term in 2011 as part of a Teaching Internship Programme organised by the Ministry of Education. This includes instrumental coaching, giving music history lectures, and assistance for course-works such as composition, stylistic imitation, and essay/thesis writing.
2. Teacher of General Music at Maris Stella High School in July 2013 (during the UK summer holiday). These classes were introductory sessions aimed at students who had little or no knowledge of Western music at all.
Whilst at the RCM I have played lunchtime concerts, performed as part of the annual RCM Keyboard Festival, and also in several concerts as part of the RCM Philharmonic Orchestra and the RCM Wind Orchestra.

No but I am happy to get one if required.

I am a member of the Integrated Society of Musicians.

I have 3 young beginners studying with me now. They have just started to learn to read music, and are playing simple children's songs.

Class I in Art of Teaching (Piano);
Class I in all musicianship, aural and history modules at the RCM thus far.
Recipient of RCM Study Award
Recipient of Ministry of Education Teaching Scholarship, a full sponsorship from the Government of Singapore, under the condition of eventually returning to Singapore to work as a teacher
- How much do you charge?
If travelling to student's home:
£30/hr or £25/45 min
If student takes lesson at my place:
£25/hr or £20/45 min
You may have one consultation lesson which would be charged at half-price.
- Where do you teach?
I teach at home but can also travel to students' homes. I live in the Fulham/Putney area but am happy to travel to all areas around Earl's Court, West Kensington, Hammersmith, and South Kensington.

To be arranged with the student.

Depending on the students' current abilities and interests, I can either prepare students for ABRSM/school exams, or teach students who wish to take up piano as a hobby.
