Personal Message
I have a Bachelor of Music Degree (performance piano) from Otago University in New Zealand and over 10 years teaching and performing experience. I am a confident, enthusiastic, patient and creative teacher. I have an excellent knowledge of the solo piano repertiore and of ABRSM and Guildhall exam requirements. Whether you want to learn for fun or sit exams I can help you achieve your goals.
Which subject(s) do you teach?
I teach Piano and Music Theory. I am also available for GCSE and A-level tuition.
Tell me about your qualifications.
I have played piano for over 25 years and am an experienced solo and chamber music performer. I hold a degree in performance piano (B.Mus) from Otago University in New Zealand.
What kind of experience do you have?
I have over ten years experience of private piano teaching. I also teach piano part-time at Graveney School in Tooting.
How much do you charge?
I am based in Balham but will travel within the SW of London, a travel fee will apply.
Where do you teach?
I mostly teach out of my home which is about 5 minutes walk from Balham Tube and Overland. I can travel for lessons but a fee will apply.
When are you available?
Availability discussed on inquiry.
Which ages and levels do you teach?
I teach all ages (children and adults alike) and all levels from beginner through to advanced. From grade 1-8 through to the diploma level exams.
Do you have an up-to-date CRB (Criminal Records Bureau) disclosure certificate?
I have an advanced CRB certificate
Do you belong to any professional organisations?
I am a member of the Incorporated Society of Musicians (ISM) the UK's professional association for musicians and music teachers.
Tell me about some of your current students.
I have students ranging in age from 5 through to 55. Some learn for fun or to play tunes that have always appealed to them. Others are learning so that they can sit and progress through the piano examination system. I also teach piano part-time at Graveney School in Tooting.
Do you have a personal message for students?
Playing the piano is such an important part of my life, it fills me with joy (and sometimes frustration!), but it is a real privilege to share my knowledge with others and help them discover their own musical creativity. Whatever your reason for learning, whether for fun or for exams, I will work with you to achieve the desired results.
