About Sara
- What kind of experience do you have?
I began teaching cello in my final years at music college (from 2003). My teaching career took off working for various music services such as Bury, Waltham Forest, Ealing and Westminster. I was appointed cello tutor at Orley Farm Preparatory School (Harrow-on-the-Hill) in 2011, and at Stratford Preparatory School (Stratford-Upon-Avon) in 2012. I have recently been offered the position as Cello and Piano Tutor at Mayfield Preparatory School (Walsall).
I have experience in coaching junior string orchestras and string ensembles and I coached at the Oxford Cello Summer School.
I am a professional freelance cellist and work with various well-known orchestras and chamber orchestras in the UK. I also co-run the Sorelli Ensemble and the Sarabande Trio and give recitals and provide music for different occasions.

I aim to inspire and motivate my students. I try to make lessons enjoyable and stimulating, I encourage students to think and work things out for themselves, so that they may practice productively.
- Which subject(s) do you teach?
I teach Cello from beginner to advanced levels (post grade 8), and Piano from beginner to intermediate levels (approx grade 5).
I also teach Theory from beginner to grade 5.
- Tell me about your qualifications.
I studied cello at the Royal Northern College of Music, where I obtained my BMus Honours, P.G Diploma in Performance, and MMus in Performance.
I have taken grade 8 in Piano.
- How much do you charge?
I charge £35 per hour, £27 for 45 mins, or £18 for half an hour.
- Where do you teach?
My private teaching is from home in Warwick.
- When are you available?
My timetable is flexible.
- Which ages and levels do you teach?
I teach all ages from beginner to advanced.
- Which qualifications do you prepare your students for?
I am used to preparing and taking my students through the graded exams (ABRSM and Trinity Guildhall).
