Performance Diploma for Flute from the Associated Board of the Royal School of Music

At Trinity College of Music I specialised in performance and IVT (Instrumental Vocal Teaching)
LTCL (Teaching Diploma) - Distinction

I have recently graduated from Trinity College of Music with a First Class Honours Degree, where I studied with Anna Noakes, Margaret Campbell and Piccolo with Alan Baker.

I have just started on a two year masters course in flute performance as a scholar at Royal College Of Music.

Recent awards include:
• The Worshipful Company of Musicians - Allcard Award 2011 for Postgraduate Studies at Royal College of Music.
• Royal College of Music Scholarship for Postgraduate Studies.


What kind of experience do you have?
I have been teaching private pupils for 4 years and I currently teach both children and adult pupils. I have had the opportunity in teaching all abilities and all ages.
I have successfully entered many students for ABRSM exams with good results as well as preparing them for entry to local orchestras and competitions.

Teaching positions held:

• Ravenstone Prep School – Tutor of Flute, one to one tuition.
• Musico South – Tutor of Flute, One to one tuition and group lessons in schools and Private one to one tuition.
• Blackheath Conservatoire deputy flute teacher – Roundabout group


How much do you charge?
The hourly rate is £30 but I also offer the option of half-hour and forty five minutes lessons.


Where do you teach?
I usually prefer to teach at my house, however going to private homes is negotiable.


When are you available?
Evenings and weekends, although I have a flexible timetable so can usually fit in lessons around you.


Which ages and levels do you teach?
I teach all ages and abilities ( up to grade 8 and diploma level) from beginners to advanced players
I have had experience teaching young children and adult students.

ABRSM grades


Do you have an up-to-date CRB (Criminal Records Bureau) disclosure certificate?
Yes. I have several up to date CRB certificates.


Do you belong to any professional organisations?
Sarah is co-principal with The National Concert Orchestra of Great Britain who regularly performs in concert halls/venues and tour around the UK, she has just completed her second UK Tour of "Bat the Symphony". Sarah performs regularly with Bath Philharmonia (2nd flute) and recently worked/played alongside Andrea Bocelli with British Philharmonic Orchestra. She was also a regular deputy on the ‘Russell Watson Tour 2011’ with Arts Symphonic Orchestra and has also performed with The New London Orchestra. Sarah held the post of 2nd flute with Docklands Sinfonia, 2008-2009 and is currently Principal flute with The Borasco Ensemble. Earlier this year Sarah had the opportunity to record and perform with her flute quintet for corporate events for LM wind power in Amsterdam. Sarah has had the opportunity in working with international leading conductors such as Sir Mark Elder CBE, Rory Mcdonald, Edward Gardiner (English National Opera), Michael Stern (Kansas City Symphony Orchestra) and Sian Edwards.


Where and with whom did you train?
2007-2011 - Trinity Laban Conservatoire of Music and Dance where she studied with flute teacher Anna Noakes, second study with Margaret Campbell and piccolo with Alan Baker.

Sarah has just started her Masters programme as a scholar at Royal College of Music, under the tutelage of Sue Thomas and piccolo with Stewart McLwham and Kathleen Stevenson.

Sarah has received private tuition from Robert Winn,Paul Edmund Davies, Susan Thomas, Laura Jellico, Jonathan Booty, Katie Bedford, and Susan Milan. She has also participated in master classes with Paul Edmund Davies, Susan Milan, Jonathan Snowden, Sarah Brooke, John Alley, Wissam Boustany, Emer McDonough and Daniel Pailthorpe.


Do you have a personal message for students?
I am a young enthusiastic and approachable teacher who is extremely interested in teaching students from all ages and abilities.
