About Daniel
- What kind of experience do you have?
On top of private one-to-one teaching for the past few years, I have had extensive training in mentoring skills. During the past year I have also directly mentored students and develop specific musical skills on the Klezmer Ensemble Performance Level 2 module on the Bachelor of Music degree course. In this capacity I have led group sessions which teach songs by ear, arranging skills and provide students with an understanding of an unfamiliar genre. I am also involved with Classical Evolution, with which I have worked on projects that aim to bring classical music to a wider audience in a fresh and new way, such as at the Just So Festival, with which I also helped shape musically and creatively, bringing ideas about how to engage the children in activities.

I'm a freelance jazz/classical clarinettist/saxophonist and educator, based in Manchester, with a wide spectrum of musical experience: orchestral, solo, pop, folk, jazz and musical theatre.

Clarinet (Beginner-Grade 8), Saxophone (Beginner-Grade 8), Music theory (Beginner-Grade 8).
I tailor my approach based on the student. I focus on ABRSM grades, jazz and improvisation, and give the student a grounding in musical theory, analysis and aural skills.

1 hour one-on-one lesson: £25/h,

N.B. Additional charges may apply to cover expenses if I need to travel to the student's home
- Where do you teach?
I prefer teaching at home in Hulme, Manchester. I am willing to travel to the student's house (within a radius of several miles; further travel may result in a higher cost for expenses).
- When are you available?
I can often be quite flexible with times, but tend to keep my teaching to mid-week. Weekends lessons can occasionally be arranged.
- Which ages and levels do you teach?
I can teach from primary school age to adults.
- Which qualifications do you prepare your students for?
ABRSM/Trinity Grades or just to develop skills if graded exams are not right for the student.
- Do you have a personal message for students?
I tend to take a holistic approach when teaching, giving students a wide appreciation of music by challenging preconceived ideas about music and cultivating their own musical tastes and technical proficiency.
