Personal Message
Born and raised in England, I have been playing the piano since the age of 2! I hope to help others onto a path that I have so enjoyed.
Which subject(s) do you teach?
I teach piano and music theory. Lessons can be given in French and English.
Tell me about your qualifications.
I gained a 1st in Music Informatics at Sussex University and received the School of Media, Film and Music prize for my end of year recital. I received and A and A* for music A-level and GCSE respectively.
What kind of experience do you have?
I have experience teaching adult and child beginners privately from ages ranging 7 to 50. During my time at Chetham's School of Music and Royal College of Music, I was given plenty of opportunity to assist and advise fellow musicians. As a performer, I have given many chamber music recitals including a concert in the Duke's Hall and have reached the finals of competitions such as the Ryzard Bakst Memorial Competition and the internal Chetham's Concerto Competition. While at university, I performed Rachmaninov's Second Piano Concerto with the Sussex University Orchestra.
How much do you charge?
I charge £30 pounds an hour.
Where do you teach?
Lessons usually take place at my home in London, SW10 area. The closest underground station is Earl's Court. However, I am more than happy to travel students houses between zones 1-2.
When are you available?
Currently I am available any day or time.
Which ages and levels do you teach?
I teach piano to students of all standards, from complete beginner to post grade 8, ages 6 and up. I teach music theory from grades 1 to 8.
Which qualifications do you prepare your students for?
Should the student request it, I am able to prepare them for ABRSM and Trinity Guildhall grade exams from 1 through 8 in both piano and music theory.
Do you have an up-to-date CRB (Criminal Records Bureau) disclosure certificate?
My last CRB check was 4 years ago. I am currently in the process of updating it. Parents of younger students are welcome to sit in during lessons.
Where and with whom did you train?
I spent 4 years at Chetham's School of Music studying piano with Jonathan Middleton. During university I studied piano with Hilary Coates for 3 years. Over the years I have played to highly renowned pianists such as Vovka Ashkenazy, Martin Roscoe, Kathryn Stott and Christopher Elton. During my postgraduate course at the Royal Academy of Music I will be studying under Carole Presland.
Do you have a personal message for students?
I offer flexible piano lessons in a fun and relaxed atmosphere. I understand that most beginners are eager to learn pieces as quickly as possible and I am happy to focus my lessons on teaching pieces rather than getting caught up in finger exercises and theory!
