About Katie
- What kind of experience do you have?
Teaching experience both privately and at a school in Oxford.
Extensive performing experience to feed into my teaching practice, both with knowledge of technique and familiarity with repertoire - this includes flute and voice recitals, orchestral flute experience, operatic stage experience, and appearances as a soprano soloist. I also have lots of choir experience, and was a choral scholar at Exeter College while at university.
Music theory and history learnt from my music degree.
- Do you have an up-to-date DBS (Disclosure & Barring Service, formerly CRB) Certificate?
I have a DBS certificate completed in July 2014 done for my work at an Oxford School, and I subscribe to the DBS Update Service.
- Where and with whom did you train?
I currently study singing with Fiona Dobie in Oxford, and prior to that I was taught by Giles Underwood.
I studied flute with Stina Dawson in London, and prior to that Brian Stewart in Northumberland.
Future teaching professional development planned in 2015 includes attending the Music Education Expo conference in London, and the AOTOS summer course for teachers.
For my singing I have also attended Oxenfoord International Summer School in Edinburgh in 2012, 2013 and 2014, and taken part in public masterclasses with Robin Bowman in Oxford.

I am an Oxford-based singing and flute tutor passionate about helping pupils get the most enjoyment out of their singing and playing.
- Which subject(s) do you teach?
Singing and flute, both technique and a wide variety of styles and repertoire. I also teach music theory as appropriate to enhancing experience of practical music making.

£30 per hour

- Where do you teach?
I teach at my home in east Oxford (Iffley/Cowley area).
- When are you available?
I am mainly available weekday evenings, but also some weekdays during the day. I am also available the occasional weekend. Lessons could either be by a regular time slot, or a more occasional ad hoc arrangement - please contact me to arrange.
- Which ages and levels do you teach?
I teach all ages from 7 and upward, and from beginner onwards to accomplished.
