About Carole Ann
- What kind of experience do you have?
I began my music career in 2011 when I started teaching singing privately, alongside working for Yorkshire Music Education Service (formerly Chevin Music) as a choir leader and singing teacher. In January 2013 I began working for Kirklees Music School, a position I still hold alongside my private teaching. All the while I have been pursuing my professional singing career.
I have experience teaching children and adults of all ages and abilities, both individually and in groups. I also have experience working with children with special educational needs.
- Do you have an up-to-date DBS (Disclosure & Barring Service, formerly CRB) Certificate?
Yes, I have an up-to-date CRB certificate.
- Where and with whom did you train?
My vocal training was initially with Dr Michael Alexander in Kent, and then Paul Wade (Opera North) after I moved to Yorkshire. I currently study with Llyndall Trottman (/Opera North/Llyndall Trottman School of Singing).
At university I studied music theory and history of performance with Dr Lisa Colton, Dr John Bryan and Dr Philip Thomas.
- Do you belong to any professional organisations?
I am a member of the ISM - the Incorporated Society of Musicians.

Delivering music lessons to students aged 12+ from beginner level to advanced from my home in the heart of Holmfirth, West Yorkshire.
- Which subject(s) do you teach?
I teach singing and music theory. I teach from a classical point of view though lessons are tailored to cater to the individual needs of each student. Elements of music theory and aural perception are incorporated into the lessons so that students grow to become well-rounded musicians; standalone theory lessons are available.
- Tell me about your qualifications.
I have a BMus (Hons) First Class in Music from the University of Huddersfield. I also have ABRSM Grade 8 (Distinction) in Singing, as well as additional qualifications in piano and music theory.
- How much do you charge?
My fees are:
£12 for 30 mins
£16 for 45 mins
£20 for 60 mins

- Where do you teach?
I teach from my home in Holmfirth, West Yorkshire.
- When are you available?
My teaching days are Monday - Thursday and Saturday. Lessons during the school holidays can be arranged, though times may differ from those during term-time.
- Which ages and levels do you teach?
I teach students from age 10+ of all abilities and levels.
- Which qualifications do you prepare your students for?
I provide GCSE and A-level support, as well as preparation for graded exams with exam boards including ABRSM and Trinity Guildhall. If there is a particular syllabus you would like to follow do let me know.
