About Stephanie

- What kind of experience do you have?

I began learning the saxophone when I was 12 and was lucky enough to have a tutor that took a personal interest in my progress and encouraged me to join as many local music groups as possible. This is a trait I strive to ingrain in my own teaching. Whilst at school I was a member of the Kent Youth Wind Orchestra, Kent Youth Jazz Orchestra and variety of other small ensembles which gave me the opportunity to travel to Cyprus, Italy, Germany and France. I knew from early on in my musical education that I wanted to perform in ensembles, particularly musicals, which led to my learning of the flute, clarinet and Oboe. I now regularly perform in musicals around the Cardiff and Bristol area, with recent highlights including 'Footloose,' 'West Side Story,' 'High Fidelity' and a celebration of 100 years of the Bristol Hippdrome. During my time at RWCMD I was also a member of the Asa Saxophone Quartet which performed a lunchtime fringe concert at the 2011 Welsh Proms. I currently teach woodwind at a secondary comprehensive school in Aberdare, and have private students ranging from children to adults.

- Do you have an up-to-date DBS (Disclosure & Barring Service, formerly CRB) Certificate?

I have an up to date CRB certificate.

During my time at university in Cardiff I performed in numerous musicals in the Bristol area, with highlights including Footloose, Sweet Charity, West Side Story and the U.K. Premiere of High Fidelity. After graduating I taught privately in the Cardiff area and at a local secondary comprehensive. In 2015 I moved back to Kent after having my son and now teach from my home in Larkfield. I also play with Maidstone Wind Symphony and the Roger Luxton Dance Band.
