About Robert
- What kind of experience do you have?
I have taught 1-2-1 since the age of 18, working with all ages and abilities including older complete beginners. It's never too late to start! As a trumpet player I have vast experience playing with some of the the UK's best orchestras and ensembles including the London Symphony Orchestra, Philharmonia, Bournemouth Symphony Orchestra, Gabrieli Consort and the Academy of St. Martin in the Fields. I perform in a brass quintet (Total Brass) with whom I have played for the Queen and many well known famous faces. I have also performed with Elton John on BBC television and radio and at the iTunes festival.

I studied at the Royal Academy of Music with James Watson, Mark David, Gareth Small, Bob Farley, Paul Beniston, John Hutchins and Rod Franks.

Hi, my name is Robert Smith and I am a freelance Trumpet player and teacher. I'm fun, friendly and approachable and am always striving to get the most out of my pupils, changing my teaching to suit their style of learning.
- Which subject(s) do you teach?
My main instrument is Trumpet/Cornet and I also teach beginner and early level piano and all levels of Music Theory.
- Tell me about your qualifications.
- Bachelor of Music First Class degree in Performance from the 'Royal Academy of Music'
- LRAM (Licentiate of the Royal Academy of Music) teaching diploma specialising in Brass Teaching
- Dip(ABRSM) performance diploma for Trumpet
- Grade 8 Piano
- How much do you charge?
£30 per hour and £20 per half hour for lessons within zones 1-2. For lessons outside this area, there may be an extra charge to cover travel.
- Where do you teach?
I prefer to teach at the students' home where they would feel more comfortable. I live in Willesden Green so it is very easy to travel to most of London. I also have a car with full driving license so I am willing to drive to homes as long as there is free on-street or off-street parking.
- When are you available?
I have a very flexible schedule so will try to accommodate any students' needs. I teach all week (including weekends), all day and evenings.

Trumpet/Cornet: Beginner to Advanced (All ages)
Piano: Beginner to Grade 4
Music Theory: All Levels
- Which qualifications do you prepare your students for?
I can prepare students for all performance grades including diplomas and all levels in Music Theory.
- Describe your arrangements for online tutoring.
I am available to teach music theory over Skype or FaceTime. A time must be arranged and it is the students responsibility to initiate the call at the correct time. All other correspondence must then be done through phone or email.
