I am a Violin Teacher and Chamber Music Coach at the Junior Trinity College of Music. I have a motivated class where students partake in exams, recitals, ensembles and make friends through music making.

What kind of experience do you have?
Damon Flanagan was born in Southampton in 1980. He began his musical education based on the Susuki method. At the age of 16 he became concertmaster of the Southampton Youth Orchestra, leading them on three european tours and playing Vivaldi Concertos on numerous occasions. Damon studied on the Hampshire Specialist Music course where he gained an A for music performance at A Level. From 1998-2003 Damon studied at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama with Professor Simon Fischer receiving his Bachelor and Masters degree. His studies were completed in the Conservatorium van Amsterdam under the renowned concert violinist Ilya Grubert.

Damon won first prize in two prestigious chamber music competitions at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama and his string quartet was chosen for events with the Lord Mayor of London and The Queen.

In 2005 Damon became violin teacher at Charles Edward Brookes School in Lambeth. During his tenure the school quickly became a 'music college' status school. In January 2011 Damon visited the Jersey Academy of Music as a specialist violin teacher to kick start their new string programme. Damon now runs a successful private teaching studio in South East London, is Professor of violin at Junior London College of Music and is a deputy teacher at Junior Trinity College of Music.

Through my Studio has attracted motivated children and parents alike. I provide regular concerts and performance opportunities and prepare for Grade Exams and Private School Music Scholarships. I understand the need to gain access to good state secondary schools, so I do press for the attainment of Grade 5 by 11, which the Grammar School system see as a major asset. My aim is to press and develop each individual student to fulfill their potential. My studio is of all ages: from 4 years of age beginners, to professional musicians in the Royal Marine Bands who are preparing for Army Diplomas in Music. I am a highly motivated teacher and my students reap the rewards.

His freelance orchestral career started with engagements with the Bournemouth Symphony Orchestra and English National ballet in 2005. He now regularly performs with such orchestras as: Royal Philharmonic, City of Birmingham Symphony. He had played principal violin with Opera North and sub principal with the Royal Philharmonic Concert Orchestra. He regularly performs at the BBC Proms and such soloists as Nigel Kennedy and Jose Carreras.
Damon Flanagan leads the Mancini String Quartet and Flanagan Piano Trio. They both have a busy schedule of recitals, private and corporate functions. Recitals have included Sutton Synagogue, on board Saga's Rose, Ruby and Sapphire Cruise liners and The Garrick Theatre in Lichfield.
