Personal Message
Hello! I am a very enthusiastic and patient young teacher who promises a fun and friendly approach to learning an instrument for all ages and abilities; from complete beginners right up to experienced players.
Which subject(s) do you teach?
I teach Flute, Bassoon, Recorder and Music Theory and can help students through ABRSM and Trinity Guildhall Practical and Theory exams.
Tell me about your qualifications.
I have just received an MMus with Distinction from the Guildhall School of Music and Drama (October 2014) and the Concert Recital Diploma.
I have a BMus (Hons) First Class from the Royal College of Music (July 2013)
and I have ABRSM Grade 8 Distinction on Flute and Bassoon.
What kind of experience do you have?
I have over four years experience of private teaching as well as having extensive experience of group teaching and coaching small ensembles. I've given lessons at the American School in London, The Centre for Young Musicians Hackney and at Music'all in Fulham as well as at the City of London School for Boys as part of the Art of Teaching Module at the Royal College of Music. I've also been the Woodwind Mentor on the Pro Corda Chamber Orchestra Course, at Leiston Abbey, Suffolk in 2013 and 2014.

As a performer I have worked with professional orchestras including the Orchestra of English National Opera, Royal Philharmonic Orchestra, Royal Liverpool Philharmonic Orchestra, London Symphony Orchestra, the Aurora Orchestra and Bournemouth Symphony Orchestra; performed in venues including the Royal Albert Hall, Royal Festival Hall, the Barbican, Symphony Hall Birmingham, Bridgewater Hall Manchester, Philharmonic Hall Liverpool, Leeds Town Hall and the Sage Gateshead. I've performed in a variety of chamber ensembles and I am the bassoonist of the Armartis Ensemble (www.thearmartisensemble.co.uk) as well as giving solo recitals for an array of different festivals, both nationally and internationally including the Encuentro de Música y Academia de Santander, Spain.
How much do you charge?
For Flute and Bassoon I charge £35 for an hour lesson and £30 for 45 minutes.
For Recorder and Music Theory I charge £30 for an hour lesson.
Where do you teach?
I usually teach at students' homes but can also teach from home if that is preferred. Can travel to: Southwark, Lewisham, Lambeth, Wandsworth, Merton, Hammersmith & Fulham, Kensington & Chelsea, Westminster, Camden, Islington, City, Tower Hamlets, Hackney, Newham and Greenwich. Will consider enquiries for further afield.
When are you available?
Weekly schedule is flexible. Can teach most weekday afternoons and evenings as well as weekends. Also happy to teach during school holidays if required.
Which ages and levels do you teach?
At the moment my students range from Key Stage 2 to adult. I teach complete beginners through to advanced players and ensure I work with each student's existing musical knowledge and experience to enable progress to be as noticeable and as rewarding as possible.
Which qualifications do you prepare your students for?
ABRSM Grade Exams and Music Medals
Trinty Guildhall Grade Exams
GCSE, AS/A Level Music
Do you have an up-to-date DBS (Disclosure & Barring Service, formerly CRB) Certificate?
I have an Enhanced DBS Certificate as a Visiting Music Teacher (Issued November 2014).
Where and with whom did you train?
I have just completed my studies at the Guildhall School of Music & Drama with Daniel Jemison, Miriam Gussek, Peter Whelan, Helen Simons and Amy Harman (September 2013-July 2014).
I previously studied at the Royal College of Music with Julie Price, Andrea de Flammineis and Joost Bosdijk (September 2009-July 2013).
Prior to this I studied at the Junior Department of the Royal College of Music with Nicholas Hunka (September 2008-July 2009).
I also studied privately with Martin Gatt and Janet Whitteridge (January 2008-July 2013 and February 2000 until July 2007 respectively).
Do you have a personal message for students?
If you feel you would like to give learning a musical instrument a try for the first time; improve your current standard and skill or to revisit playing, please feel free to get into contact. Thank you.
