Personal Message
I am a qualified Maths teacher, who has successfully coached students taking GCSE, A level and IB Diploma Mathematics as well as exams such as BMAT.
Which subject(s) do you teach?
Mathematics, and some Physics
Tell me about your qualifications.
My degree is in Electronic Engineering, which involved much maths well beyond A level standard.
What kind of experience do you have?
I worked as a consultant for most of my career and then retrained to teach Mathematics from 11 to 18. I have worked in schools and a 6th Form College, and am very familiar with the demands of A level, GCSE and IB Diploma Mathematics. I work with students to help them improve their basic maths skills and to interpret exam questions accurately, so that they can maximise their marks. I have a wide variety of materials available that I can draw upon to assist with learning.
How much do you charge?
I am happy to meet with the student (and parent or carer) to discuss needs free of charge. Discounts are available for booking a series of sessions.
Where do you teach?
I generally teach at the student's home, but am willing to consider a student coming to my home. I can travel to most of Central, East and South East London, and into Kent.
When are you available?
From 4:30 pm on weekdays. Between 10am and 4pm on Saturday and Sunday.
Which ages and levels do you teach?
From 9 or 10 to 18.
Which qualifications do you prepare your students for?
See list above.
Do you have an up-to-date CRB (Criminal Records Bureau) disclosure certificate?
Yes. This was last renewed in December 2011.
Where and with whom did you train?
I completed my PCGE in Mathematics at King's College, London
Do you have a personal message for students?
Success in Mathematics requires good core skills, and an ability to understand and solve problems. (Often specific types of problem appear in exam papers.) Practice is essential to building mathematics skills, and you can learn techniques that will help you improve.
