- As an experienced and well qualified teacher I will help you to improve all areas of communication and to make learning English fun and relevant to your needs.
- Which subject(s) do you teach?
- English as a Foreign Language
- Tell me about your qualifications.
- PGCE (teacher qualified) and CELTA (Teaching English as a Foreign Language). I also have an Online Teaching Certificate for teaching English as a Foreign Language. I am also a qualified horse riding instructor!
- What kind of experience do you have?
- I have over 5 years experience of teaching in International Language Schools in the UK and have lived abroad for over 20 years. I have a huge amount of excellent teaching resources available and can offer lessons in my own home where we can offer a warm family atmosphere and interesting and interactive learning environment. I know how important it is to teach material specific to students needs and will initially complete a simple student assessment.
- How much do you charge?
- £20 per hour Reduced prices for booking a series of lessons Reduced prices for small groups. Happy to combine lessons with 2-5 students Can teach in my own home or arrange to meet in your home or at a convenient location within easy distance of my home. I have my own transport and could arrange pick up & drop off for an extra charge Please contact me about prices and I will be happy to negotiate depending on your needs and times available.
- Where do you teach?
- I live 6 miles north of Cambridge and can teach in my home. I can teach from home where I have a large amount of ESL resources and furthermore, a friendly warm family environment where the student can improve vocabulary with everyday activities and can be actively encouraged to speak with my family, inclusive of two young boys who are always keen to help correct pronunciation or to help welcome you into our home (football skills are a plus!).
Alternatively I am happy to teach at another chosen location where I always encourage learning using everyday objects/ weather conditions/ and activities.
I am willing to meet in Central Cambridge as I travel there each day. (times to suit) I can teach in my home or at yours, in a pub, coffee shop, library or even an interactive lesson while walking (I have a dog who always enjoys a long walk!) or even shopping. - When are you available?
- I am available in the early evenings on weekdays or I am generally flexible on the weekends
- Which ages and levels do you teach?
- I have taught Elementary to Advanced classes and 1-1 lessons. I have limited experience of teaching young learners, and generally teach adults but I am happy to all ages and all levels.
- Which qualifications do you prepare your students for?
- IELTS CAE FCE
- Do you have an up-to-date CRB (Criminal Records Bureau) disclosure certificate?
- No, not current. I did have CRB certificates but my latest one is just out of date.
- Describe your arrangements for online tutoring.
- I have access to Skype and could set up online tutoring It is not something I have done before but I would be happy to start. I have a number of resources which could be emailed to students and happy to help to improve all forms of communication (speaking/reading & writing)
- Do you have a personal message for students?
- I am an enthusiastic, outgoing, yet patient teacher who is always happy to meet new people, happy to help develop your language skills and to help make your experience of living in Cambridge fun and rewarding!
I always try to have a good rapport with learners and hope that each student who I teach will leave our country having enjoyed their experience and greatly improved their English language skills.
