With my enthusiasm and experience, pupils enjoy their own learning in our sessions. This increases both their confidence and knowledge, leading to greater success in both class and exams.
Which subject(s) do you teach?
I specialise in tutoring pupils at all levels that lack confidence in Science, helping them really understand the curriculum and how it all fits together, whilst improving techniques to help prepare for their exams.
Biology A Level
All three Sciences (Biology, Chemistry and Physics ) to GCSE (also Single/Double Science Awards and IGCSEs)
KS3 Science and preparation for 13+ Common Entrance
KS1 and KS2 Science and preparation for 11+ Common Entrance
I also tutor pupils in English and Maths at KS1 and KS2
Tell me about your qualifications.
BSC Biology (Hons) from Kings College, London
PGCE in Secondary Science from Kingston University, London
What kind of experience do you have?
I am an experienced, successful classroom teacher who is currently working part time in a small London school.
I have nearly 20 years experience teaching pupils of all ages and differing abilities, in both secondary and primary schools. During my teaching career, I have held both Head of Year and Head of Department posts.
As an experienced tutor, I assess pupils' abilities, potential and problems at an initial session and then set achieveable goals accordingly, working closely with my student and their family.
I also have experience in coaching PGCE Science students (both in schools and as a tutor) helping with subject knowledge, planning, assessment and classroom skills.
I am fully IT literate and also have considerable experience teaching Special Needs pupils and those with English as a foreign language.
How much do you charge?
I offer a free initial consultation (45 minutes) to see if I am the right tutor, where I assess what is needed by the student (please click on my Full Profile to see my article about this)
I charge between £20 and £35 per hour depending on the level to be taught (please see Subjects list)
Discounts are made for group tuition and for longer lessons (up to 2 hours)
I do not charge travelling expenses and provide all resources (topic/revision notes)
Where do you teach?
I travel to students' homes in West London, mainly Ealing but also in Greenford, Acton, Wembley, Richmond, Twickenham, Shepherd's Bush, Kensington and Chelsea. I have also tutored students in Central London.
When are you available?
Mornings, afternoons and evenings from Monday to Wednesday and on Saturday mornings (until 1pm).
Thursday and Friday evenings and other weekend lessons can be booked but not on a permanent basis.
Which ages and levels do you teach?
I teach pupils of all ages, covering KS1 & KS2 English/Maths/Science and KS3 Science, specialising in preparing pupils for entry to independent and selective schools via 11+ and 13+ Common Entrance exams
I offer tuition in all 3 Sciences to GCSE and Biology A level
I also enjoy tutoring adult learners
Do you have an up-to-date CRB (Criminal Records Bureau) disclosure certificate?
Yes.
Tell me about some of your current students.
I have helped all my tutees to attain improved grades in exams that they have taken. I have tutored pupils that have attained places and scholarships at London day schools, also Wellington, Eton, St.Paul's, Francis Holland, Westminster and other public schools, as well as universities in both Britain and abroad.

Please click on my Full Profile and read the testimonials from past students and parents (all can be authenticated at our initial consultation)
Do you have a personal message for students?
I love all aspects of Science and find it very rewarding to pass on my enthusiasm and knowledge, whilst trying to help my pupils enjoy their own learning in this subject.
I am friendly and relaxed in my approach to teaching, injecting some fun into lessons with different techniques to work on both strengths and weaknesses, whilst always maintaining high levels of learning. This boosts confidence so that students start to feel comfortable with the subject I love!
