- Personal Message
- I am an enthusiastic, young tutor that really does have the best interests of my students at heart! I love helping students to produce work that they can be proud of.
- Which subject(s) do you teach?
- I focus mainly on the core subjects: English, Mathematics and Science. I teach secondary school age children, with the exception that I can also tutor for the 11+ exam.
- Tell me about your qualifications.
- I have a 2:1 degree in English Literature and Creative Writing, A Levels in Maths, Physics and English and 12 GCSEs.
- What kind of experience do you have?
- I currently work in a secondary school as a TA, which means that I have to go into a lot of different classes to support children with their learning. Due to the nature of my position I regularly support children with learning difficulties, and spend 20 minutes a day with a small group of children to give them tailored literacy support. I recently tutored my sister via skype in preparation for her Mathematics GCSE and this seemed to work quite well, which is why I am also offering online tutoring.
- How much do you charge?
- I charge £25 per hour as a general rate but obviously this may be altered to suit the individual situation.
- Where do you teach?
- I currently only teach at students' homes so having a quiet place to study is very useful. I am willing to travel up to 20 mins drive from Ashford/Staines.
- When are you available?
- I am available weekday evenings from 4pm and weekends. I am available throughout school holidays.
- Which ages and levels do you teach?
- 11-16 KS3 & KS4. KS5 English.
- Which qualifications do you prepare your students for?
- GCSEs. A Level English.
- Do you have an up-to-date CRB (Criminal Records Bureau) disclosure certificate?
- Yes.
- Describe your arrangements for online tutoring.
- I can tutor online via skype, but obviously this is more suited to some subjects than others. In the case of online tutoring, I would prefer to have at least one session with the student face to face in order to establish a method of learning that is best suited to the individual.
- Where and with whom did you train?
- I attended Queen Elizabeth's Grammar School, Horncastle where I completed my GCSEs and A Levels. I completed my degree at Kingston University.
- Do you have a personal message for students?
- It's OK to find something difficult, but don't panic! Our brains are perfectly capable of doing the work, but sometimes they just need a little encouragement so they can unravel the questions being asked of them!
