- Which subject(s) do you teach?
- I teach french horn, trumpet, trombone, euphonium and tuba.
I teach music theory as well, but integrate this in to my brass teaching as well. - Tell me about your qualifications.
- Masters of Arts - Royal Academy of Music (French horn)
LRAM - Royal Academy of Music (teaching certificate!)
Bachelor of Music - University of British Columbia (Canada)
Grade 8 voice and piano as well. - What kind of experience do you have?
- I have taught brass pupils at many ages and abilities.
I have coached brass ensembles as well as lead section rehearsals.
I have taught individual music theory lessons as well as group lessons. - How much do you charge?
- 25 pounds/hour.
15 pounds/30 minutes.
Travel outside of zone 1 & 2 is an extra 5 pounds. - Where do you teach?
- I prefer to teach in the students' home.
- When are you available?
- My schedule is quite flexible. I am available weekdays, weekends during the day and most evenings!
- Which ages and levels do you teach?
- Beginner brass -- Start your brass playing experience with a qualified teacher who has experience teaching all ages - youth to adult. Learn the basics of playing a brass instrument while playing fun tunes. Learn to read music as well as how to 'play by ear.'
Intermediate brass -- Prepare for ABRSM examinations and auditions, expand on your theory rudiments, learn new repertoire and performance techniques.
Theory -- Learn the foundations of music theory through fun games and simple exercises to enhance your musical knowledge. - Which qualifications do you prepare your students for?
- ABRSM exams, auditions, or just help becoming a better player.
- Do you have an up-to-date CRB (Criminal Records Bureau) disclosure certificate?
- Yes.
- Where and with whom did you train?
- At the Royal Academy of Music I studied with Martin Owen, Richard Watkins, Michael Thompson and Andrew Clark. Currently I am studying with Jonathan Lipton of the London Symphony Orchestra.
